New Network for Remote areas

Nokia
Nokia creates technology that connects people and devices across the globe. We want everyone to be able to access Nokia’s advanced network solutions, even in remote areas.

The internet will open various new opportunities in the economy of developing countries. We are a part of the Nokia Kuha project that is creating mobile networks for rural areas. With it, remote areas gain access to functional telecommunications.

Kuha is a network maintained by communities. It combines traditional Nokia network devices and modern technological solutions.

Unikie participated in the first real-life application project utilizing Nokia Kuha technology in Australia, in collaboration with Vodafone. Two base stations placed on a local farmer’s field enabled coverage of more than eight square kilometers with 4G connection. In principle, Kuha extends a traditional fixed internet connection into a mobile LTE network.

Unikie development for 4g and 5g networks

This collaboration is a perfect example of the international projects in which Unikie participates. We combine hardware and coding expertise and continuously produce concrete and visible results that our customers can bring into production, says Seppo Kolari, Unikie’s Customer Relations Manager.
