Sensor data fusion, artificial intelligence and advanced automation

The ongoing global revolution of diversification of information systems’ terminal devices forces companies to develop their operations through means such as sensor data fusion, artificial intelligence and advanced automation. Machine automation, mines and ports are the trailblazers of this development.

Unikie’s key competence is based on the utilisation of sensor data. As the amount of data continues to grow, sensor fusion will have a large impact on turning the data into information. Unikie’s technology combines sensor data from different sources and uses AI to turn this data into information that can then be used in the real-time steering of devices, vehicles and processes. The use of AI makes it possible, for example, to steer a car entirely without a driver. In other industries, Unikie’s technologies enable constant, monitored steering of the process line, whereas operations in ports, for instance, can be optimized by sharing real-time synchronized data between different parties.

“A traditional information system can see the workflow, but sensor networks can perceive the entire digital network. Instead of leading matters based on the past, we lead them based on the present. This is what we are moving towards,” says Unikie’s CEO Seppo Kuula in Tivi’s interview, and continues:

“We do things with technology that have never been done before.”
