In traffic semi-automated solutions help the driver by sensing the environment and detecting the objects. The vehicle’s sensors scan the environment and based on the advanced machine vision and machine learning algorithms and AI solutions, the vehicle automatically takes actions (e.g. Automatic Emergency Braking) or alerts the driver to act in the situation (e.g. Driver Monitoring).

Fully autonomous vehicles require a vast amount of technological components working smoothly together. On our way to fully autonomous cars, many semi-automatic functions have been developed to assist drivers. Autonomous driving is based on situational awareness, enabled by various sensors generating huge amounts of data. This data is then filtered and processed in order to get sufficient information for higher level components to make decisions about path planning, safety actions and, eventually, driving.

Unikie’s AD/ADAS solutions are based on our AI Vision framework where most of the fundamental data processing is happening. On top of that, we have built various ADAS features and even capability to fully autonomous operations.

AI Vision is a highly customizable sensor agnostic framework processing data from LiDARs, cameras, radars, GPS, and other sensors through open API’s. Many functions require successful sensor fusion of various data sources in order to produce robust and accurate conclusions. For example Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) can utilize data from Lidar, Radar, IMU and car data, like steering wheel angle. Also best object detection accuracy is achieved with Lidar-Camera sensor fusion.

Unikie’s AD/ADAS solutions can be used either in-vehicle systems or edge/cloud computing system based solutions where sensors are located outside for the vehicle. We can also utilize third party data sources, like weather data, through connectivity.

Unikie ADAS solution can increasingly leverage wireless network connectivity to offer improved value by using Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2X) data. Cloud-based services and the Internet-of-Things are essential part of Unikie’s development dealing with autonomous driving.

Automated Factory Parking

Unikie has created an efficient framework for the development of autonomously controlled vehicle logistics. The solution uses edge computing and combines various stationary sensors for full and accurate control and detailed situational awareness.

The system can maneuver an unlimited number of cars accurately even in confined spaces and crowded areas along with other factory traffic.

Automated Valet Parking

Valet parking is one of the obvious use cases where monotonic and repeating
manual driving can be replaced with autonomous drive. It requires a backend
management system, connectivity to the cars and either remote or in-vehicle
autonomous driving capability and related sensors.

Vehicle Remote Control

There are several use cases where a vehicle or a fleet of vehicles need to be
monitored, controlled or even driven remotely. Unikie has developed a
dedicated Control Hub product to meet the requirements of Remote Control. It
can utilize either existing maps, or dynamic maps created by the vehicles
even operate without any maps.

Fully autonomous operations

Automotive industry is aiming for global solutions of fully autonomous
vehicles, but the fact is that the endless amount of variations makes it very
challenging to achieve. However, full autonomy or fully automated operations
are realistic and possible to achieve already now.

Unikie has solutions for both
Autonomous Driving Zones and Autonomous Driving Operations in public
roads, as long as environment and mission has realistically limited.

Dynamic Safety Zones

Adding safety is one of the main goals in most AD/ADAS systems. Collision
Avoidance and Emergency Stop are fundamental building blocks of any safety
feature set. By utilizing our Situational Awareness components and these
safety features, we can build dynamic safety zones either to stationary areas
or around moving vehicles.

Customizable Dynamic Safety Zone can eithermake local or remote alarms or even cancel all operations when unwanted
and hazardous behavior is detected in the safety zone area.

Driver Monitoring System

Driver Monitoring System (DMS) brings safety functionality to all vehicles improving road safety. Unikie’s DMS monitors the driver‘s behavior and alerts in situations where deficiencies in driver activity are detected

By studying a person’s eye, face and head movements, our AI enabled algorithms can draw conclusions about a person’s alertness, attention and focus.
