The Nordic Case Challenge gathered nearly 50 business students at Tampere University of Applied Sciences to compete in a grand finale where Unikie presented a business case for the student teams to solve in 15 hours.
In the Nordic Case Challenge business students get a possibility to learn core skills required in business life in a unique, practice oriented and needs-based setting. The competition also strengthens the collaboration between students and educational faculties as well as improves Nordic relations. It also emphasizes the significance of sustainability in every area of business operations.
“Participating in the Nordic Case Challenge cultivates invaluable skills essential for success in today’s dynamic corporate landscape. The competition serves as a platform for improving complex problem-solving abilities, fostering innovative and data-driven approaches, and promoting a profound understanding of global business and cultural nuances. Moreover, students develop crucial teamwork, time management, and presentation skills while gaining opportunities to establish meaningful connections with case companies, opening doors for potential future collaborations and career prospects”, says Mari Rytisalo, Senior Lecturer and Head of Organizing Committee of NCC 2024 at Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Unikie had the privilege of creating a business case for the Nordic Case Challenge, hosted by Tampere University of Applied Sciences and Tampere Business Case Club in March 2024. The teams were challenged to find new market opportunities for Unikie in the AI ecosystem, keeping in mind that our solutions strive also for sustainable impact.
“It was extremely exciting to challenge the students to deep dive into customer value-creation enabled by AI strategies and the green transition. The teams came up with very interesting conclusions on how Unikie’s top-notch embedded software talent and AI/ML competence can be utilized to create new sustainable and innovative solutions for our clients”, describes Markus Jakobsson, Segment Lead, Devices & IoT, Networks at Unikie.
The judging panel evaluated the teams based on problem identification, innovativeness, recommended solutions, financial and operational implications, and team performance, to name a few. The case challenge provided Unikie new perspectives as well as potential collaboration possibilities. Thank you to all participating teams for their great effort!
Van Le, Product Owner at Unikie, handed out the prize for the winning team, representing Aarhus University in Denmark.
The Nordic Case Challenge was organized for the third time by 6 Nordic universities: Copenhagen Business School, BI Norwegian Business School, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Lund University (School of Economics and Management), Reykjavik University and University of Agder.
