PRESS RELEASE 5.8.2021
Chief Commercial Officer Seppo Kolari of the autonomous mobility and process control software developer Unikie has transferred from Finland to manage Unikie’s global sales from the United States. Kolari will continue as Unikie’s CCO and Board Member, with additional duties including, in particular, promoting the company’s business and reinforcing its position in the US market where Unikie has set its sights firmly on growth.
Unikie has been present in the United States since 2018. Until now, its US operations have been managed by a few people working at the offices in California and Colorado. Unikie will now expand its presence to also include the east coast.
“Unikie is one of the fastest growing technology companies in Finland and aims for strong growth, also internationally. The United States is a pioneer in data-driven steering and its market is huge. In 2020, more than half of the embedded software market around Unikie’s core expertise was in the United States. Roughly 10 percent of our turnover already comes from the United States, even though our investments in this market have so far been relatively small. Our goal now is to increase the share of the US to 30 percent of our total turnover. We aim to take a leading position in the United States in the market of autonomous mobility and process control technology solutions by investing heavily in our local presence and new client acquisition”, says Unikie CEO Seppo Kuula.
Unikie’s technology combines sensor data from different sources and uses AI to turn this data into information that can then be used in the real-time steering of devices, vehicles and processes. The use of AI makes it possible, for example, to steer a car entirely without a driver. In other industries, Unikie’s technologies enable constant, monitored steering of the process line, whereas operations in ports, for instance, can be optimized by sharing real-time synchronized data between different parties.
“Unikie is a pioneer in smart machines, cars and industrial applications that are capable of real-time decision-making. Our technological know-how and solutions possess great potential in the US market, for example in car manufacturing, the aviation industry, ports, logistical centres and cruisers. We are already working in close cooperation with some of the major car manufacturers in the United States. In September, we will showcase automatic parking solution with Ford, among others, at one of the biggest events of the automotive world, IAA Mobility 2021”, says CCO Seppo Kolari, outlining Unikie’s growth opportunities in the US market.
“Seppo Kolari is just the right person to lead our conquest of the US market. As one of the founders of Unikie, he has been involved in the various stages of company development in the last six years and has successfully managed our sales in the European market, where we already operate in four countries. Seppo also has strong experience in the US market where he has previously built up business operations in other technology companies. Our goal for the future is to reinforce our US team by recruiting new technology talent while simultaneously continuing our active sales and expansion in Europe”, says Seppo Kuula.
