Unikie’s annual report and financial statements for 2023 are released and available below.

”Unikie aims to be a desired partner for embedded software engineering services and Marshalling solutions for autonomous driving that create value and success in the evolving process of digitalization. In 2023, we systematically worked towards our goals and invested in a new organizational structure, profitability, and enhancing our sales and internationalization. Our investments focused on product development and on strengthening our product development organization.
The organizational restructuring has taken us one step closer to our goal of being a preferred employer for top tech talents. Local management has developed considerably, and our business priorities have become clearer. Our goal is to return to the roots of Unikie, where technology, hard-core experts, and values provide our company’s core and where processes, workflows, and tools form the backbone of the company, enabling an agile corporate structure. As part of this work, we will also certify our ISO 9001 and ISO14001 quality standards.
Investments in boosting our sales and internationalization have increased our turnover, and the company will continue to focus on strong international growth, especially in the EMEA and North American markets. Although the market situation, especially in Europe, was poor during the past year, our net sales grew by approximately 18%, reaching EUR 65 million. Internationalization continued at an excellent pace, with international trade accounting for 54% of our turnover. During the year, we also invested in profitability and managed to turn the result for 2023 into a positive one. In line with our forecast, in 2024 we will continue to grow internationally, and profitability is returning to the right level after some less productive years.
During the year, we managed to strengthen our position as a desired and recommended partner for challenging software projects. We developed our business by creating new international customer relationships with leading companies in all our segments, both in the automotive and heavy equipment & off-highway vehicle industries, as well as in smart devices and connectivity. Our business also grew significantly in the Research and Defense sectors, where our expertise in the areas of embedded software, cyber security, real-time situational awareness, and artificial intelligence and machine learning is of utmost importance. The country office we set up in the UAE succeeded in growing beyond its set targets in the Research segment with strong expertise in information security, space technology, and artificial intelligence.
Despite the challenging state of world affairs, we were able to continue investing in our product development organization and productization. Our automotive, logistics, and industrial customers have confirmed our chosen priorities and business models in our solution business. Next year will see several new customers and domains utilizing our certified Marshalling solution.
In the service business, we will continue to strengthen our sales and internationalization. We will also invest in our segment-specific offering and, among other things, increase our defense technology supply. We will put our customers first by being an honest, trusted partner and by solving even the most difficult challenges together with our top-notch experts. We will continue to pioneer the latest technologies, helping our customers stay ahead of the competition.
