A forerunner in utilizing realtime data for steering, Unikie is launching its own mentoring programme to train newly graduated or early-stage coders to become top software experts, especially for the automotive industry. Unikie offers junior coders an opportunity to work in one of the fastest-growing technology companies and to be trained and mentored by the best experts on developing the QNX operating system. QNX is a realtime operating system used in many development projects for the automotive and manufacturing industries.
Unikie’s CEO Seppo Kuula says: “Lack of software experts is a real challenge in Finland that is holding back our growth. By training new talent, we are doing our share of accumulating new intellectual capital in Finland. In addition to schools, IT companies have an important role as well, since succeeding in this industry may require a recent graduate to have knowhow that is impossible to gain from school alone”.
Unikie is at a stage of powerful growth and internationalization. The company has been recruiting experts at a rate of nearly one person a day this year. Altogether over 450 experts in six countries work for Unikie today.
“There is a constant severe shortage of experts, especially in the QNX domain. Even as we speak, our client projects in the automotive industry have several open positions to fill. Our future experts will face interesting and challenging duties in QNX software development projects for high-ranking automotive manufacturers and an opportunity to gain competence from experienced mentors. We are offering a unique opportunity to participate in creating a smarter future for transport and to see the end results of their work in real-life vehicles. Cooperation with the world’s largest automotive manufacturers is a testimony to our position as forerunners in autonomous transport”, says Kuula.
The recruitment tour launching in early December aims to find around ten new employees to Unikie’s offices in Tampere and Oulu. The core target group includes those with recent or soon-to-graduate information technology or software development degrees from universities or universities of applied sciences. No prior experience of QNX is required.
The training is organized by Unikie’s and Blackberry’s instructors. When entering the mentoring stage, the trainees will move to work for an automotive client project, with support from Unikie’s mentor. After the six-month mentoring programme, the participants are eligible for full-time jobs at Unikie. The training period is paid.
Unikie offers its experts a fair and transparent, competence-based salary, goal-oriented work in an experienced and driven community on interesting projects, combined with a strong culture of co-creation, possibilities for continuing development of expertise and first-class working tools.
