PSI Transcom and Unikie will showcase for the first time at InnoTrans 2024 the automated bus depot, performing driverless movement of standard buses within a depot.
Vehicles need to be moved within a depot for various preparatory tasks such as refueling, charging, or cleaning. To enable the automated movement of buses in the future, numerous projects worldwide are already testing autonomously driving vehicles equipped with costly technology.

The showcase at InnoTrans will demonstrate how bus depots can be fully automated without complex vehicle components and lengthy approval procedures. Regular buses will be connected to the Unikie Marshalling Solution (UMS), providing the real time digital twin of the bus depot. This includes all movements of e.g. people and both manually and automatically driven vehicles. Integration of the Depot Management System PSItraffic/DMS with UMS allows the seamless automation of all bus tasks planned by the PSItraffic/DMS, safely operated and maneuvered driverless by the Unikie Marshalling Solution.

On PSI side the solution is partly based on initial results from the IDEA research project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), which investigates systems and interfaces for depot automation in conjunction with innovative network technologies.
PSI and Unikie will participate in the World Innovation Tours organized daily at the InnoTrans, where groundbreaking innovations are presented to a professional audience. More details here.
