Unikie, a leading provider of embedded software services for physical AI, announces its membership in the AI-RAN Alliance.
Intelligent telecom networks will create a backbone and nervous system for physical AI. Telecom operators are ideally positioned to advance physical AI by leveraging their distributed edge infrastructure, deterministic low-latency connectivity, and trusted security frameworks, all backed by national‑scale operational expertise. This combination enables performance-guaranteed services, opens new revenue streams, and fosters innovation through private 5G networks, real-time robotics platforms, and partnerships that create safe, scalable environments for human–robot collaboration.
The AI-RAN Alliance aims to transform how mobile networks are built, operated, and monetized by bringing together technology industry leaders and academic institutions. Unikie will contribute along the three AI-RAN work groups:
- AI-for-RAN by enhancing RAN capabilities and improving spectral efficiency with AI enabled and optimized CPU/GPU algorithms.
- AI-and-RAN by enabling multi-tenant cloud native infrastructure with optimal orchestration and workload placement solutions
- AI-on-RAN by deploying Edge AI workloads and services on RAN infrastructure
Alex Jinsung Choi, Chair of the AI-RAN Alliance:
“We are pleased to welcome Unikie to the AI-RAN Alliance.Their expertise in physical AI, edge computing, and AI-optimized RAN technologies will help advance our shared goal of transforming mobile networks into a foundation for new AI-driven services.“
Since 2015, Unikie has been developing the enabling technologies for physical AI and today the company is delivering physical AI solutions across industrial, automotive, logistics, telecom and defence sectors. Examples include 6G sensing, autonomous industrial systems, autonomous marshalling for vehicles and machines, Edge AI solutions for industrial and defense domains, autonomous drone swarms and the list goes on.
Juha Ala-Laurila, CEO of Unikie:
“Becoming part of the AI-RAN Alliance is an important step for Unikie as we move forward with our physical AI solutions. We have a proven track record and global experience e.g. in CPU/GPU algorithm optimization and edge AI solutions which gives us an excellent position to take advantage of opportunities emerging from physical AI empowered by AI-RAN.“
Meet Unikie at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona for the conversation on Physical AI and AI-RAN enablement and transformation.
