Fintraffic’s Vessel Traffic Services is expanding its digital port services with POLO Port Activity through a business deal with Unikie on 7 June 2024.
The service offers real-time arrival and departure times for ships, emission calculations, berth planning, information on detachment and mooring and invoicing services, as well as water and waste management orders, tug and pilotage services – all in the same application. The Port Activity service is built on an open ecosystem basis, which ensures that ports can develop the service according to their own needs.
“Fintraffic’s Port Activity application is already in use in more than 20 ports in Finland and Sweden and in about a couple of hundred different organisations. The application helps maritime logistics actors and ports to develop their operations in a more efficient direction through real-time vessel and port information. Fintraffic will continue to develop Port Activity in a customer-oriented and open manner, where port-specific service development will continue to play a key role,” explains CEO Rami Metsäpelto of Fintraffic’s Vessel Traffic Services.
“POLO was created to help advance the digitalization of ports and their services. We are now happy to be able to enable and support Fintraffic’s vision to offer the best digital port services in the future” says Markus Jakobsson, Business Owner of Unikie’s POLO product.
Petri Kalske who has lead Unikie’s POLO product since its creation will also move to Fintraffic in order to realize this vision.
The POLO Port Activity application was originally developed by Unikie and launched in 2021. Unikie’s POLO Port Activity services will be transferred to Fintraffic’s Vessel Traffic Services starting 30.6.2024.
